A few weekend pictures....

Another fun weekend:-) Friday was spirit day at school so Alec was in his Perry gear. He was real excited about it. Kris had to work a side job at the Tuslaw Football Game again on Friday so we just hung out at home that night.

On Saturday Kris and Alec went to the Walsh Football Game (my college) because they were playing a team that Kris' cousin plays on. Most of Kris' family came up to Canton to go to the game. There was no way that I could take Mikayla to the football game. She doesn't do well at all in situations like that so it would have been too hard on her:-( She has been very "sensory disorganized" for about two weeks...I think because of all the changes lately. She has been wearing her weighted vest A LOT but it only helps so much...she needs a trampoline to help her. I was hoping that everyone would stop by the house after the game to see us but I guess they couldn't. I had her all dressed up to see them:-)

Today Gina and Christian came down for a visit. Joe was painting the house so Gina wanted to get out of there. I didn't get any pictures...I know, bad me. It was fun though:-) After they left I started hitting the homework. Lots going on this week. Mikayla has therapy/EI school tomorrow and after that I take her to daycare and then rush home to leave Alec with the neighbor to get on the bus so I can get over to class. After class I pick Mikayla up, come back home, wait about 20 minutes for Kris to get home and then go to tutor my reading student in Massillon. I will have to leave right from there to get up to Akron because we are having our first NEO Guatemalan Adoptive Parents Board Meeting:-) We are planning the Christmas Party already! Time is flying!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Picture Days and Such...

How is everyone??? I personally am READY FOR THE WEEKEND!!!! Alec had school picture day on Tuesday and was real proud to show off his "picture smile." He says he did good....we will see when they come back.

Mikayla also had school picture day on Wednesday HOWEVER I didn't know about it because she had missed the prior couple classes due to her being sick. They have medically fragile children at her school and if your child is sick at all then you can't take them in. So I had her in a play Carter's dress that will just have to do! Of course she looked cute...I just would have dressed her different had I known. But...at least she was wearing a dress! LOL.

I have had another busy week with school. Lots of projects and such due this week that have kept me crazy busy. Tomorrow is my four week evaluation at my student teaching placement. My cooperating teacher will sit down with me and go over an evaluation sheet that I give her and we will discuss my "strengths and weaknesses." I will tell you all about it after tomorrow.

Kris is working a side job at the Tuslaw Football Game again tomorrow night, so it will just be me and kids. Once they go to bed I am planning on hitting the books and getting some more homework done. I can't WAIT to graduate people. Doing this with two kids is much harder then when I was in school with just Alec. Alec has been having a hard time with our crazy schedule lately. Pray for him...he is not adjusting well right now.

Well....have to get to bed! It's almost midnight and I have to be up bright and early for student teaching!

PICTURE DAY! I took this once he got home...didn't have time before he left.
He was all into modeling for me in the window!
Then he told me he was going to make a gooftball face...and he did!
This is one my most favorite pictures I think I have ever taken of him. Oh how I love my sweet boy!
I see you mom.
Having a snack after her bath tonight. Look at that pretty hair! Her hair on the top where she pulled it all out is starting to slowly grow back. She is still pulling it out though. :-(
This is a half mad/half smiling picture. She was hamming for the camera and then changed her mind and wanted OUT of the highchair. I got her out, she grabbed her lovey, and marched right up the steps and to her crib and said "Ny-Night Mommy." This child loves to sleep. Like mother like daughter I guess....too bad I can't teach Alec to sleep like Mikayla!

WOW...total craziness around here...

Balancing everything around here has been a real challenge for me lately. My school hours are all over the place, Mikayla has therapy/EI twice a week, Kris has been working side jobs that are at all kinds of odd times, Alec in Kindergarten and making sure I can get him to school before I get to class. IT'S INSANE AROUND HERE.

I am obviously super busy with school this semester. I have already started my clinical hours at my first placement in Massillon. It's going OK. There are some differences between teaching styles and classroom management between my cooperating teacher and I. I am trying to make this the best that I can though. For the past two weeks Mikayla has been sick and is now at her sickest point. So sick that she got ME sick, of course. I came down with it bad on Monday night and have been miserable ever since. I finally feel like today I may be coming around a little though. Hopefully I am because I still have a very busy week ahead of me.

Alec got hit in the eye with a rock last week. It was HORRIBLE. One of his "friends" down the street threw a rock at him! He came in the house crying hysterically and bleeding. His right eye was nearly swollen shut. I was IRATE let me tell you what. The boys mom came up and apologized but I think the boy should have. Alec was in so much pain for several days from it. It is finally clearing up, just in time for school pictures next week. I know boys will be boys but there was NO excuse for this in my opinion. It was just BAD...trust me..I have left out a lot of the details.

On Saturday we were supposed to go down to south to see my grandma and grandpa. Thankfully Mikayla was sick and we couldn't go because HURRICANE IKE moved in with a FURY let me tell you what. The winds were topping 70 MPH around the area and there were trees and power lines down everywhere. It was one the worst wind storms ever recorded in Ohio history. I can tell you I have NEVER experienced anything like that and I am so thankful we were not driving in those conditions. It's a three hour drive to their house one way. We lost power and cable off and on the entire day and night and they even cancelled school on Monday! It was bad. Amazing that it could pack that much of a punch this far inland!

So we are all just trying to get better around here. Things are crazy, like I said, but I will update as much as I can:-)

Here is a picture of Mikayla. She saw me pull out the camera and this is what she did. So...no pictures today! LOL.

Alec lost his 1st tooth!!!!

It's been loose for a LONG time but tonight was finally the night we got it out. Alec wouldn't touch it, he was scared to, but tonight he caved and begged for us to get it out because it was bothering him so bad. He cried and CRIED because he was terrified that it would hurt him. It took two hours to convince him to just get it OUT. He finally let me do it and he was so relieved! It was super loose...you could bend it all the way forward so it was really ready to come out. His new tooth was coming in behind it and you can see it in the pictures. OH! And excuse the "drool marks" on his shirt...he was drooling because he was scared he would swallow his tooth...ROFL. I can't believe it! The Tooth Fairy is coming tonight!!
